The only good weed is a dead weed. Yeah, I want them all looking like this: Brown, shriveled up, gone from my garden.
This is what happens to any weeds that dare to attempt an invasion of my vegetable beds. I may even take a few of them and put them up on a pole as a warning to the other weeds.
Since my daughter’s pregnancy last year, we have been staying away from chemicals. That policy holds true even more with a little one around. No more using commercial weed sprays in this household!
The problem was I really did like my weed sprays. What to do, what to do… I Googled and found something. Being me, I was skeptical about it working. We made a test batch:
1/4 cup of Epsom salt
2 cups of white vinegar
1 tsp Dawn dishwashing soap
I warmed up a cup of the vinegar so the Epsom salt would dissolve better and not clog my spray bottle. Then I added the other cup of vinegar, the soap and went to work spraying. Within an hour all the weeds looked like that photo. Success! We have achieved complete and total weed destruction!
