Mmmm… Bacon. Everything’s better with bacon. Tonight I want to share a family favorite. It has all four food groups: pasta, cheese, bacon, and beef. I’m pretty sure I saw the baby drooling while I was making it. Either that or he’s teething already.
Bacon Cheeseburger Mac and Cheese
1/2 lb. bacon (or just toss in the entire pound!)
1 lb. ground beef
2 Tbsp Butter
2 Tbsp Flour
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Dry mustard
1/2 tsp paprika
Pepper to taste
1 tsp onion powder
2 1/4 Cups Milk
8 oz Velveeta Cheese, shredded (or cheddar or American)
12 oz Pasta
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cook the bacon, break it into pieces & set aside.
Brown the ground beef, breaking it into pieces. Drain the oil from it & set that aside.
Being pot of water (for pasta) to a boil.
In saucepan melt butter. Remove from heat. Blend in flour, salt, and spices. Slowly add milk while over medium heat, stirring constantly until sauce thickens. Add cheese and hear until melted.
Cook and drain pasta. Combine with cheese sauce in 2 quart casserole. Mix in the beef and bacon. Bake for 25 – 30 minutes.
Makes about 6 – 8 servings, depending on the appetites of those eating it. Pretend not to notice the beef is missing from the photo.
