What can I say about myself? I guess I should at least mention that my name isn’t actually “Monkling,” it’s Joanne. Where did the whole “Monkling” thing come from? Click here to read the story. After being called by that nickname for over 15 years, I even answer to it and to assorted variations of it.
Perhaps you’re wondering why on earth I have a blog. It’s certainly not because I have any great words of wisdom that I feel compelled to share with the universe. I’m simply on a quest to find the humor in ordinary, every day life.

I have decided, under the influence of an Aleve induced delirium, to state a couple of basic facts about myself. I’ve been married for 24 years to Frank, my one and only true love. I have a son, Stephen, who’s 23 (he’s a seminarian studying in Rome) & a 20 year old daughter, Theresa (she’s in college, too, but is close to home). Oh, and a 13 year old black lab named Nicodemus. I was born in Brooklyn, as were both my parents and I’ve always lived in NY. If you place any relevance on birth order, I’m the oldest of 4 kids.
I work from home as I guess what you’d call a webmaster. I take care of a couple of websites. I’m also, sorta, a freelance writer. I do have a bunch of published pieces but I haven’t written anything much for a long time. This blog is supposed to be motivation to get back to the writing again.
