What can I say about myself? I guess I should at least mention that my name isn’t really “Monkling.” Where did the whole “Monkling” thing come from? Click here to read the story. After being called by that nickname for nearly 2 decades, I even answer to it and to assorted variations of it.
I’m a middle aged woman, a wife, a mother, a sister, an aunt. No, wait. That’s wrong. I can no longer be considered middle aged; not unless I plan on living to 100. I’m thinking that’s probably not likely. On the other hand, I don’t much like the idea of being past middle age so I think I’ll just stick with being “middle age.”
I used to be a freelance writer and a web programmer. Now – I’m not so sure I’m either. Not if being paid a decent amount is a requirement. Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve gotten paid for writing anything in years. Yet, I persist in writing and so, here I am.
Why is there a Monkling blog? Partly because by blogging I hope to develop a little bit of self discipline, forcing myself to write on a regular basis. Oh, who are we kidding? I’m over half a century old. If I don’t have any self discipline by now, it’s not likely I’ll suddenly wake up with a boatload of it.
The truth is, I like telling stories and I like making people laugh. The stuff you see here will be whatever pops into my head and yes, most times that will be just a bit warped. Sometimes I might write something serious but usually I’m trying for funny because life is pretty funny. I’m simply on a quest to find the humor in ordinary, every day life.
I love fan mail and comments. It is what motivates me. It is what keeps me from thinking I’m just talking to myself and there’s no one out there reading this. Leave a comment, even if it’s just to say, “hi.” And if you want to email me, use the email link in the right column.
Thanks for visiting. Pull up a chair and stick around for a while. I’ve just put up the coffee.
