No, I do not own a laptop. I have, however, used one on occasion. Like when we were away & I used Frank’s.

He has a work laptop. It is 9 years old. Because it is a work laptop, it has all sorts of security on it and you can’t load whatever you want on it. Plus… it’s old. Really old. It was time for him to get a new one.

Well we jumped ship. We got an Apple. After briefly playing with it, I am trying to remember why we ever went with Windows. Our very first computer was an Apple. Then I remembered. Oh, yeah. Work. Stupid work.

Now about the laptops. Laptops in general. They have touchpads. I hate touchpads. Truly hate them. Far as I know, it is impossible to click and drag with one hand. You hit it accidentally when you’re typing. They get in the way.

This was driven home quite strongly tonight when I was playing with Frank’s new Apple. I found myself clicking and dragging stuff that I didn’t even click. I tell you, the thing is possessed by demons. Programs would open that I didn’t open. I lost the Downloads folder someplace. Things moved on their own.

I have decided that touchpads & I just don’t get along. And that’s fine because I don’t own a laptop and I’m not likely to need one anytime soon. But I can tell you, if I do get one, I will have to rip the touchpad right out of it.

I’m thinking about getting an Apple myself. If I didn’t have a database I’m worrying about converting, I almost certainly would.

But the touchpad is a non-issue. You can get an external mouse for any of them. I hate touchpads, too. Maybe they work, but I seem to be allergic to them.

Is the database MS Access? There’s a version of Office for the Mac.
