Sparky

Tonight Frank & I went out with a friend. He was sitting right next to Frank. His name is Sparky. He’s a dragon.

Sparky

Actually, he wasn’t our friend. He was friends with the people sitting 2 seats down, the people who were randomly chosen, over us, to get better seats.

We decided to be spontaneous today. It’s not often we are spontaneous, not because we don’t like to but because… well first we had young children and now we have an old dog. But tonight we said the heck with it. Let’s be daring. Off we went, out to dinner and then to see if we could get tickets for tonight’s Islander’s game. There was a conversation like this:

Me: “If we pay for parking and go in and there are no tickets for the game, will we get a refund?”

Frank: “They are in last place. I’m pretty sure that won’t be a problem.”

While we were on line to buy tickets, we were approached by an older man. He said he had season tickets but couldn’t use them; that he’d give us his $70 tickets for $35. I checked the tickets. They seemed authentic. Since we were in a risk-taking mood, we bought them off him and they did turn out to be legitimate – a bit higher up than I would have thought for $70 but center ice. Pretty good view:

Islanders

I can’t remember the last time we were at a hockey game. I like hockey. Except for the fights. Tonight there were a lot of fights. The Islanders got our hopes up by playing really well in the first 2 periods but then they ended up losing in a shootout. At least it was close.

Of course the bad part is now I’m itching to do more things. (Looks down at dog lying by my feet & sighs.) Oh, well. He is 14. (And as I’m typing this, I’m thinking I sure hope Theresa doesn’t pop into my blog or I’m in deep trouble.)
