Actually, a more accurate title would be “Aluminum Can Basement.” Tonight I decided it would be a good idea to put a few soda cans in the refrigerator for tomorrow. We don’t really drink soda but other people might want some so I thought I’d be nice. I have tons of soda down in the basement. It’s leftover from Steve’s party, still in the case.
I decided to use a box cutter to slit open the plastic. I was being real careful not to cut myself. Our family has this tradition of doing stuff like that. Well let me tell you something – those aluminum cans must be paper thin. I barely nicked the can. Suddenly soda was spraying at me. I tried to get the plastic off the case so I could grab the can and stop the spraying. That was a mistake. Apparently the plastic was helping hold the soda in the can, blocking the hole.
Yep, I have nothing better to do today than clean up coke, what with having Thanksgiving here tomorrow.
Speaking of Thanksgiving, my daughter informs me that I am failing in the whole Italian Thanksgiving dinner menu. I left one item off the menu – stuffed artichokes. I didn’t hear the end of it. “How can you not make stuffed artichokes? What kind of Italian are you?” It did not good to point out that I was making stuffed mushrooms. She didn’t care that I had absolutely no room to store and cook 14 artichokes. Nor did I pacify her with the promise to make her stuffed artichokes this weekend. Nope, I have failed.
Oh Monk, you do not fool me, not for one second–you KNOW you will be making stuffed artichokes for Theresa at some point this weekend! I would bet money on it. Because you are the BEST Italian I know and you would never fail at anything Italian or anything having to do with being the best kind of Mom there is.
And now I’m really gonna embarrass you and tell you how thankful I am to have you for a friend; you make me laugh, you make me smile, you make me feel like I am an okay person–sometimes all in the same post!
You and Katy? You two are special. Now will you immediately send some Limoncello? Packed in stuffed mushrooms? Cause I love stuffed mushrooms. And a stuffed artichoke or two also, if you don’t mind. Because your place is where I’d REALLY love to be eating Thanksgiving dinner today. NUM!
Have a wonderful holiday, Monk, Frank, Steve, Theresa, Janet and family, and anybody else Monk-related!
I would much rather have the mushrooms. I think I would remind her that it was her ankle that was hurt and not her arms….she can make the darn artichokes if she thinks she must have them.
Have a great Thanksgiving and enjoy your family. I hope your sister feels better.
