It wasn’t lighthouses today, though. When there’s a tropical storm heading your way, you really don’t want to be going down by the water. No, today I was in search of apples.
We looked outside. The sky did look a bit gray but Hanna wasn’t supposed to hit until around 4 p.m. It was currently 2.
“Do you think we can beat out the storm and get to Jericho Cider Mill without getting soaked?” I asked Frank. I have this plan to invite a few people over. I have decided it’s going to be called, The Great Apple Festival. Hey, do you expect me to do things in a normal way and just invite friends over? Nope, that would be boring.
My ingenious plan is to have apple stuff – apple wine, apple sangria, hard cider, apple desserts, and we will play one of the best games – Apples to Apples. So my idea was to drive over to this Cider Mill to buy stuff like apples, apple butter… anything that struck my fancy.
As we walked out to the car, there were a few drops of rain but I figured, since we were heading east, we could get to Jericho before Hanna. And we did. We drove right past the place and saw a huge “Closed” sign on it. It seems I haven’t been there in quite a while. It appears that they’ve gone out of business.
Right on cue, the rain started.
Oh, and my Great Apple Festival? Ask me if I have called anyone up yet to invite them. The answer would be no. Did I mention I like living on the edge, waiting until the very last minute to decide just when I am going to do things?
