How many towels does 1 person need? Like say a young man was moving to some foreign country for 5 or 6 years and wouldn’t be back in NY for 2 years. Apparently the answer to that question is well the number of towels depends entirely on who your mother is.
Let me ask y’all something. Do you use a new towel every time you take a shower or do you reuse one for a couple of days? What is the norm here with towels?
This is my take on it - you just took a shower. You presumably washed yourself. With soap. You should be clean now. All you’re doing is wiping water off your dripping body. Theoretically it’s clean water. Therefore, the towel is still clean. Wet, maybe, but clean.
It seems my sister has a different opinion. You’d think since we were raised by the same mother, that we’d have the same viewpoint on this but we do not. Nope, she has to have a clean towel every single day. So does her husband & son. That’s 21 towels to wash every single week. If she uses another towel for her hair like I do, then it’s 28.
(I just told Frank, “I’m making fun of my sister on my blog.” His response was, “Well that’s okay, I suppose.”)
Getting back to the Towel in the Trunk question, so if you are Janet, you need to pack 7 towels. Sorry but Stephen is only getting 3. And I didn’t even go out and buy new ones for him. I am such a bad mother! Hey, why should I give him more than 3? I’d be amazed if he uses more than 1 in a week.
Meantime, while I’m packing trunks, he’s off in Australia hanging out with the Pope and I didn’t even get to see him on TV this time. ![]()
