My title is completely misleading because this has nothing at all to do with a cartoon I vaguely remember my kids watching years ago. It just sounded good in the title.
Has anyone seen that show Dexter that was originally aired on Showtime? We don’t get any of the premium cable channels so we never saw that show. Then they started airing the episodes on CBS. I had recorded a couple of them and we sat down to watch 1 earlier this week, the pilot.
Now here’s the weird part. (You know there always has to be a weird part with me.)
Warning: Gory descriptions coming up here. If you hate crime shows and cringe at that sort of stuff, you may want to skip the next paragraph.
One night last week, I had this really strange dream. I guess you’d classify it as a nightmare. There was this person on what looked like an autopsy table. Nothing strange at all about that. I watch Criminal Minds, CSI, Bones… so no doubt some of that stuff can creep into my dreams. Only there was someone trying to kill the person on the table. Again, with the sort of stuff I watch, not completely unusual. But the guy on the table was wrapped up, completely flat & wrapped up like the killer didn’t want anything to uh, not be to gross, but to drip body fluids. (That was the potentially gross part that I tried to shield you from.)
Now that scene was never in anything I had ever watched on TV. I have no idea why I’d dream something gruesome like that. Then, we were watching Dexter and I hit the pause button, yelling, “That was in my dream!” There was a scene with Dexter killing someone that looked almost identical to what I had dreamed.
I don’t recall ever seeing a commercial for the show. Hey, maybe I’m psychic like Allison in Medium. Maybe next time I’ll dream about winning lottery numbers.
And as far as the show, I can’t decide whether or not I like it. Part of me likes it and part of me finds it very disturbing. I guess I’ll have to watch a few more episodes to make up my mind.
