Right now I could use a little global warming or maybe a hot flash. I’ve been cold since the contractor was fixing something by the front door and I haven’t warmed up since. Somehow it never occurred to me that if you have a man replacing a rotted piece of wood by your front door, this would require that the door be opened for good long stretches at a time. If I had thought of that, maybe I’d have postponed that part of the fix-it work until the spring.
In order to take my mind off the cold, I decided to work on some web related problems. I will not go into the long, boring details of web servers, databases and php but let me tell ya - people lie. “They” said it would be easy. You just install this software and everything is all set up. Yeah, right, in that fantasy land you live in, maybe. I will not even tell ya’ll how many hours I have spent on this yesterday and today but I am giving up for now. Instead I am going to make another batch of pizzelle.
Speaking of pizzelle, I am currently reading “Brother Odd” by Dean Koontz. I came across this line last night, which had me laughing out loud: “He sat at the kitchen table, drinking cup after cup of coffee, eating stacks of his mother’s pizzelles…”
I don’t think I ever came across a reference to pizzelle in a book before. How weird that within a week of getting my little pizzelle iron, I read that?

That certainly is a strange coincidence! Only for you would something like that happen.
I read all three of the “Odd” books. Did you read the first two? I’d hate for you to read the last one first. Although I just remembered when I read them I accidentally read the second one first. I know it was an Odd thing to do but hey, there’s a little Odd in all of us.
As far as having those computer problems, Larry always tells me if it’s not fun don’t do it. In other words, if something just isn’t working no matter how hard you try it’s time to walk away. Usually when I come back things fall better into place. Anyhow, I’m glad you stepped away from the problem, besides with a pizzelle maker why would you want to be fiddling around with php mumbo jumbo anyway?
Oh, and about Dean Koontz…was it just me or did you find the Odd books to be so totally different from his normal style of writing? I haven’t read all his books, but I have read many. He’s my favorite author. Him and J.K. Rowling

I would like to eat stacks and stacks of pizzelles. At your house, sitting by the front door cause I like fresh air due to the hot flashes. Right now, I’m reading “Lucky” by Alice Seabold. A tad bit of a downer subject, but very good anyway.

I only made a small stack of pizzelles. I’m still not happy with the results. Not that either of my batches were bad. Just not as good as that batch the mystery person made.
Dolores, I read all the Odd books in order. I read the first a while back but read these next to back to back. I liked the first 2 but really like this third one. Not too far into it yet. I’m still waiting for Elvis to show up.

The last I heard, Monk, Elvis was driving a Yellow Cab in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Really, I’m serious!
But I really think you should just be satisfied with Frank and not be waiting for other men to show up.
And I still think that I should be the final judge of if the pizzelles were “up to standard.” I’m more impartial. And hungrier.

I just saw this! I downloaded Brother Odd to my iPod so I would have something to listen to while tanning. I tried listening last night because I had such a bad headache that I couldn’t watch TV or read. Instead I kept falling asleep to the audiobook and rewinding to the beginning over and over. None of it actually stayed with me. This may not turn out to be a very good option for me. I can’t tell you how excited I am to read that you really like this one. The second was just okay. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who reads these books.

Jenn, I love Dean Koontz. My all time favorite is Watchers. I’m still reading Brother Odd because I usually only read at night, before going to bed and so I don’t get through books as fast as I used to. This particular book I really like a lot. I think it’s partly because my son is in the seminary & I know so many of the boys & am familiar with that life - which is so similar to Odd’s current experiences.
I’ve been lazy with my posts the past few days. No stories at all. I think I need to snap out of this writing slump and get back to storytelling. Maybe thrown in a seminary story or 2.

Watchers is my favorite too. I’ve read it several times and will probably read it again some time. Dean Koontz is the Master! Jenn, you’ll have to try Watchers next.
Right now I’m reading Marley & Me and I’m at the very end. Great book for any dog lover. We’ve had it on the bookshelf for over a year and I finally picked it up and started reading it. Very light reading and comical. I actually giggled and/or laughed out loud a bunch of times. I love a book that can make you laugh.

I’ve laughed out loud with Brother Odd quite a lot. Of course I have an odd sense of humor…
