I’ve had to do a bit of redecorating since my sister in-law and nephew came here on Wednesday. This is what my stove now looks like:

When Steve went to cook himself a grilled cheese sandwich, he was a bit confused when he went to turn the burner on. And all of my kitchen cabinets now have these nifty decorations:

My nephew is 2 1/2 and exactly the right height to smack his head into the edges of assorted counter tops. Most of them at least have rounded edges but there is one that’s pointed so I had to improvise and make a little bumper:

It’s amazing what ya can do with a dust rag and some masking tape. No, the dust rag was not dirty.
My sister in-law wants her son to get to spend some time with his dad’s family so today we stopped by to visit Janet for a little bit. She’s home from the hospital and I told her she had better stay home or else. I think she’s afraid of me since I’m the oldest so she won’t dare do anything that would land her back there again. Yep, it is sheer fear of me that’ll do it.
Over the weekend, we go my brother Paul’s house. I suspect John will like running around with his 3 cousins over there and Paul has nice stuff like gates so little nephews can’t make a run for the stairs. This old aunt isn’t used to running around after young’uns. I wonder how many pounds I’m going to lose between now and Jan. 1st…
Re: new decor. I think you are getting closer to a writing a letter to Ty Pennington.
Ha! My stove always looks like that!
It is amazing how quickly your home gets to be a deathtrap for little children when your own grow up. The basement door is open most of the time at my house where small children would break their necks. We have more breakable objects, medicine, yummy looking potporri and kitchen knives laying out in the open around here.
I’m really loving the bumper; the masking tape is especially nice
. Actually, what you are is a very, very good Auntie and I’m glad you get to spend this time with your sister-in-law and nephew. Just don’t be puttin’ Janet back into the hospital; the poor woman’s been through enough
