All I Want For Christmas

Is to know the answers to these burning questions. Okay, that’s a bit of an exaggeration but I’m barely through 2 cups of coffee. I stole this from Jer who posted it on our writing forum. If anyone else wants to steal it for their blog, feel free.

Welcome to the Christmas edition of getting to know your friends.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
Paper. It just doesn’t seem like Christmas morning if there isn’t a ton of wrapping paper all over the floor while everyone is opening presents.

2. Real or fake tree?
Fake because I finally figured out why I always sneeze my head off during the Christmas season – I’m allergic to real trees.

3. When do you put up the tree?
About a week before Christmas, when the kids are both home. That way we can all put the ornaments on the tree while blasting Christmas music and drinking spiked eggnog.

4. When do you take the tree down?
Usually on Jan. 6th – the feast of the 3 kings aka Epiphany.

5. Do you like eggnog?
Yep, especially when it’s half eggnog and half brandy/crème de cacao.

6. Favorite gift received as a child?
Easy bake oven. Then when I wasn’t exactly a child anymore (20?) a 35 mm camera that I thought for certain there was no way my parents would ever be able to afford.

7. Do you have a nativity scene?
Yep.

8. Hardest person on your list to buy for?
Pretty much everyone. I never know what to get.

9. Easiest person to buy for?
My younger nephews & my niece.

10. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
A hideous print blouse from my great aunt. It had monkeys on it. Back in those days, we didn’t have many clothes so I had no choice but to wear it every once in a while. Yeah, lets give the other junior high school kids yet one more thing to make fun of me about!

11. Mail or email Christmas cards?
Grudgingly mail them. I don’t like doing Christmas cards. I always feel like I should be writing a little note in them, can never think of what to write and always just end up signing our names & nothing more.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie?
Toss up between It’s a Wonderful Life & Miracle on 34th Street.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
Never as early as I’d like to.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
Nope

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
Christmas cookies. Back in the day, I used to make a dozen different kinds. Now,with half the people I know watching their weight, it doesn’t seem to be worth the effort.

16. Clear lights or colored on the tree?
Colored

17. Favorite Christmas song?
Breath of Heaven – Amy Grant

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home?
Alternate on different years but never travel very far.

19. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Sadly, yes.

20. Angel on the tree top or a star?
Star

21. How many Christmas trees in your home?
People have more than one?

22. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?
Frank & I always exchanged gifts on Christmas Eve so we can just enjoy the kids opening theirs on Christmas Day.

23. Most annoying thing about this time of year?
Stores that put up Christmas decorations & start playing Christmas music in October, people who are afraid to say “Merry Christmas.” (Here’s a hint – if a person is wearing a cross, chances are pretty good they celebrate Christmas.)

24. Black Friday or Cyber Monday?
Neither

25. What I love most about Christmas?
Everything – being with family, having both kids home, the food, the music…
