I don’t eat eggs. Not scrambled, hard boiled, not green ones with ham or in any other form. I make them once a year and that’s it. Because of that, I can never quite remember how long to boil the stupid things. That required a phone call to my sister because I was too lazy to look it up online.
She said something about putting the eggs into a pan with cold water, bring it to a boil and then shut off the gas & let them sit in the water for 15 minutes. Now since it’s not like we’re going to eat the eggs after coloring them, we figured even if I cook them for hours, it won’t matter. Well yeah, that part. But do you want to know what happens when you put eggs in a pot, wait for them to boil but then forget about it? The boiling water knocks them all around and half of them crack.
Theresa, the perfectionist, will not color cracked eggs. This required a trip out to the store for more eggs. That was not such a big deal, though, since I decided I wanted to get some pepperoni & sausage for the pizza I’m making for dinner. She did test color a few since we have multiple coloring methods – the usual dye, the kind that fizzes and this new marbling dye:
Now we just have to wait for Steve and his seminarian friend to get back so the real coloring can commence.
