Remember the sleet storm that grounded us when we were supposed to go to Nashville? The one that forced us to spend St. Patrick’s Day chopping ice rather than having fun? Afterwards, my right arm was aching. No surprise there. It’s not like I lift weights, can do 50 push-ups and am in great shape. But I figured it was just normal muscle aches & pains.
Two weeks later, when it still hurt, I figured, okay, maybe I was wrong. Seeing how I worked as a medical assistant for 9 years, I have this tendency to think I’m an expert at diagnosing myself. Consulting the wonderful Internet, I decided I had lateral epicondylitis aka tennis elbow.
Now I know this is hard to believe but some people think you should see a doctor when you’re in pain. I resisted. I said they’re only going to tell me what I already know – rest it. Then someone had the nerve to say I had better get to a doctor before my arm falls off. Before you think that’s why I finally decided to go, let me state clearly here – I know damn well that my arm wasn’t going to fall off! But I decided I might as well make sure it’s not something else so off I went.
They took some x-rays to make sure the bones were okay & then told me what I already knew – lateral epicondylitis or tendonitis of the elbow. I did get some useful information like take Alleve even if I’m not in horrible pain because it’ll reduce the inflammation & get an elbow brace (currently cleverly concealed beneath my sweatshirt).
The bad news is that it will take up to 6 weeks to heal, maybe even longer since it’s my right arm & I’m right-handed. The good news is since the more I rest it, the faster it’ll heal, I guess I won’t be carrying anything like laundry baskets filled with clothes and cases of bottled water. Lucky thing Theresa is home this week.
Speaking of Theresa, today I got to see where she works, meet her boss & co-workers and I found out she works for Superman:

The picture’s not too great because I took it with my cell phone but, then, Superman probably wouldn’t want anyone getting a close look at that, anyway.
=) You should have taken more pictures. You don’t get the full effect from this shot. That would be the “Retro room” which is basically an absence amongst the abundance of shelves where a yellow pleather booth resides. We eat in the company of boxes, magazines, Superman, Dracula and much more!…too bad you didn’t get my little friend Drac in the picture..
