Alarms

How long does an alarm have to go off before the people rise up out of their beds, grab their shotguns & go outside shooting at anything that moves? So far that damn school alarm has been going off for an hour. I haven’t heard any gunshots yet. Of course that may be because no one on the block owns a gun. Well except for the young cop a few doors down but he’s probably not even home.

Every once in a while it will stop. You’ll think, “At last! Peace has come to our little street!” But no, the silence only lasts about 30 seconds before the siren starts blaring again. I don’t know if they have computers in that school but if they do, someone could have cleaned out the place and be out to Jersey by now before anyone comes checking on things.

Wait! I know! I’ll call the mayor’s wonderful 311 hotline. Then I can get tossed around from one department to the next, be put on hold and then finally get fed up and just hang up. Ah, ya just gotta love NYC.

And the follow-up alarm report – when Frank got up this morning for work, at 5 a.m. it was still going off. No one showed up to turn it off until 6:30 a.m.

Did you call the mayor’s hotline?

  3. Monkling says:

Nope. I was too busy sleeping. Love that white noise machine! Being evil, I do hope the alarm annoyed the crap out of the loud neighbors.

They were probably so loud they didn’t notice!
